Marketfed - About Us
Who We Are
It was started as a District Wholesale Trade Co-operative Store on 24th December 1942 with an area of operation covering the entire old Malabar district. It commenced business on 14.1.1943. In 1958, it was brought under the Store Plan Scheme and converted into a Marketing Society. On 10th August 1960, this Society was converted into a Supreme Federation of Marketing Societies and its area of operation was extended to the State of Kerala. As in the case of a democratic set-up, the General Body is the ultimate authority of Marketfed. It has a total membership of 93 member societies, which includes the State Government.
Executive Team
The executive powers of Marketfed are vested in the Managing Director. He is assisted by the Finance Manager, Manager (Admin), Marketing Manager (Fertilizers), Marketing Manager (Oil Seeds) and Marketing Manager (Spices). The entire procurement and distribution work is handled by these officers. There are 14 district offices in Kerala for the distribution of fertilizers, plant protection chemicals (PP chemicals i.e. pesticides) etc. to the farmers through cooperative societies. Today, Marketfed, with its diversified business activities in the agricultural sector, stands exclusively for the best interests of the community through its members and other cooperative institutions.
Our Services
Our main objectives are to provide a strong support base to the farming community across the state by providing fertilizers and other inputs at affordable prices through cooperatives and to undertake market interventions for price stability of agricultural produce. Our procurement and marketing strategies are providing great relief to the farmers in the current situation of agricultural crises.
Marketfed is upholding its core values and taking into account the challenges ahead, expanding its business operations. This includes branding and marketing of its own products by procuring Kerala’s agricultural produce with an emphasis on value-added coconut and spices

Marketfed is now poised to consolidate and expand its role and is committed to sustainable cooperative economic development. In this ongoing grand journey, the new principles of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) and the unique codes and standards envisaged in the recently announced Kerala Cooperative Policy of the Government of Kerala will guide us in the days to come.

Our Mission
Improved marketing facilities will benefit farmers by enabling them to purchase commodities directly whenever they need them at a fair price
, eliminating middlemen, facilitating easy payment of agricultural inputs, and traditional products like pepper, cardamom, turmeric, dried ginger, cloves, etc. The intention is to act as an agent of the State and Central Governments for procuring agricultural produce by intervening in the market as per the prescribed guidelines.
