MARKETFED: KERALA’S APEX COOPERATIVE IN AGRICULTURAL MARKETING
The Kerala State Co-operative Marketing Federation Ltd. (MARKETFED) is the apex marketing organisation in the co-operative sector of Kerala, playing a pivotal role in agricultural marketing, procurement, distribution, and value creation for farmers and consumers alike.
MARKETFED commenced its operations on 24th December 1942 as a District Wholesale Co-operative Store in the erstwhile Malabar districts. In 1958, the organisation was brought under the Plan Scheme and transformed into a marketing society under the name South Malabar District Co-operative Supply and Marketing Society.
Subsequently, on 10th August 1960, the society attained apex status, expanding its area of operation to the entire State of Kerala and adopting its present name - Kerala State Co-operative Marketing Federation Ltd. (MARKETFED).
With a legacy spanning over eight decades, MARKETFED stands as a trusted institution committed to strengthening the agricultural economy, ensuring fair prices to farmers, and supplying quality agricultural produce and inputs to markets across the country.
Management & Governance
MARKETFED functions under the Department of Co-operation, Government of Kerala, and is supervised by the Registrar of Co-operative Societies. The Board of Directors, headed by an elected Chairman, is responsible for policy formulation and strategic oversight of MARKETFED. The Managing Director is vested with executive powers and is responsible for day-to-day administration and business operations. The Managing Director is supported by: Finance Manager, Administration Manager, Marketing Managers and other key officials
